Cheryl & Company Goldsmiths was established in 1982 when Cheryl graduated from O.S.U. and enrolled at Thundering Seas School for Gold and Silversmithing on the Oregon Coast. She specialized in hand-fabrication techniques to create custom wedding bands, created a collection of creatures of the sea in silver and gold, and is now producing one-of-a-kind pieces for jewelry enthusiasts visiting her gallery. Cheryl enjoys working individually with her customers to bring their ideas to life in gold and sterling silver.
The piece below is a collector's Custom Christmas ornament completely hand-fabricated in sterling silver. Each element of the design was cut out of solid sterling sheet, hammered into shape, then hard-soldered into place. Hand-fabrication techniques are a dying art that Cheryl promised her instructor to keep alive by passing them on to new students. "Fine torch work is a lot of fun, but must be practiced for many years."
